Kendrick Lamar’s artistry literally makes me happy. Especially when he’s on his Pro Black tip. I have a real soft spot for conscious music. Whether it be Hip Hop, R&B, etc. doesn’t matter. I need to feel it in order to talk about it. Kendrick purposely stimulates his fans with messages in his music that often speak to my life on a personal bit. “Humble” seemed to have did that for everybody.
Don’t get me wrong, music has changed for the better again in my personal opinion. But at one time, there seemed to be nothing for the average looking women to listen to from men. Atleast not the woman who wants to keep to her morals or just doesn’t wish to be ridiculed about her body or called out her name. Sorry if i’m prissy like that but hey i’m sensitive and ish.
I’ve never been opposed to anyone changing something about their body that they don’t like, but for those who appreciate their little booty or natural body, I think this line was appreciated across the board! Speaking from a realistic point of view because I’ve read tweets via Global Grind that oppose his standpoint arguing that he’s more Misogynistic and shallow then we’d like to say:
Kendrick has a rather patronizing, shallow way of looking at situations relating to women. I wish I could tell him about himself lol

But I cant help to feel indifferent because in music, if the artists can’t express themselves as real and as raw as possible then what do we have? Sounds more like a puppet if you ask me.
The song also speaks volumes visually on spirituality.
This scene reminded me of the men from the Nation of Islam that walked with Denzel Washington in the movie Malcolm X. But also gave me a Scarface kind of vibe as well. So there goes a double whammy to contemplate on.
But being that he has referred to himself as the king in the past, perhaps its all a reference to royalty. There was a theory speaking to the idea that he was speaking to BIG Sean, but I wont entertain that. Check out the video for your self and tell us your thoughts below:
